Harley XLH Sportster Frame Details
Life's a bitch... Thank God there's Harleys...
On 16 April 2008 we started to strip our Harley XLH Ironhead Sportster. Once the fuel tank, oil tank, saddle and rear fender had been removed, some interesting Harley frame construction details were exposed.
In the picture below you can see that the front end of our 1973 XLH frame is a steel casting in which the steel frame tubes have been fixed.
This photo shows that the rear end of our 1973 Ironhead Sportster frame,
just like the front end shown above, is also a steel casting.
