XLH 1000 Ironhead Engine (left)
Life's a bitch... Thank God there's Harleys...
On this page we have collected some pictures of the left hand side (portside) of the 1000cc XLH Ironhead engine showing the condition in which we bought this bike.
This Sportster Ironhead engine is 35 years old. It will run if you fire it, but as you can see this baby needs a lot of work. We can't wait!
The primary motor cover of this 1973 XLH has been fixed to the Ironhead engine case with different types of bolts. One of the tasks in this restoration and rebuilding project will be to replace all nuts and bolts with the proper new ones.
Probably due to the position of the jiffy stand, the left side of a harley davidson is not seen on pictures as often as the right hand side.
It is just as impressive though. Look at those big cylinders!
